Call for contributions is now open for the first edition of the Bergen International Student Conference with the theme “Climate and Society: Transformations in the 21th century”. The conference organized by CET and the UiB Collaboratory and takes place 5th and 6th of April 2018. We invite contributions from students from all disciplines.
Climate change is raising profound challenges at every level, and to every part and member of society. Confronting and resolving issues regarding both causes and consequences of climate change is of utmost urgency. This calls for collaboration and knowledge-sharing that crosses disciplines and borders. We therefore invite undergraduate and postgraduate students from all countries and academic disciplines to participate in the first Bergen International Student Conference, hosted by the University of Bergen. The 2018 conference will take place on the 5th and 6th of April, on the theme ‘Climate and Society: Transformations in the 21th Century’.
We invite abstracts related (but not limited) to the following questions/issues:
– What are the barriers to achieving sustainable development, seen from your disciplinary viewpoint?
– What viable solutions and strategies may address both causes and consequences of climate change?
– If you were to make an agenda for the transformation to a sustainable future, what would it look like?
Abstract guidelines: The abstract should not be longer than 500 words (excluding references) and can be written in English, Norwegian, Swedish or Danish. Your submission can be based upon a thesis, course paper, field project or other academic work that you have written or are currently working on. At the conference, the abstract will form the basis of a short presentation in any of the languages above, which will be followed by informal and interactive group discussions between all participants.
Please submit your abstract to firstname.lastname@example.org by 4th February 2018.
